Houses and The Council Empty Houses and The Council

Post by JadeTrickster Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:15 pm

There are 8 houses in the eighthrealm, each of which have bonuses and conditions attached. Only members of a given house may attend events for that house or post on the threads for that house. Only people who wish to join a house may post on this thread, this counts as an application. See the house threads for descriptions and rules for each house, as well as the Rp bonuses for house characters. The Council is comprised of the leaders of each house, these people will send you a message if your house application has been accepted.

This is a short history of The EighthRealm:
The Eighth Realm was formed by a war between 8 titanic forces. These forces were known by the following names: The Titan of Might, The Trickster, The Champion of Valor, The ShadowWalker, The Mech, The Warlord of Destruction, The Mage, and The Druid of The Woods. After millennia of conflict, The Trickster and The ShadowWalker realized that the energies being tossed about were forming into a nexus. The Trickster decided to do what he was best at: trick some people into doing what he wanted. The ShadowWalker however, knew that the others would eventually realize they had been tricked and start the war again. The Trickster and The ShadowWalker then formed an alliance. The Trickster decided to ask for the help of The Mage as well, while The ShadowWalker enlisted The Mech to their cause. They quickly realized that this nexus would dissolve the distance between all of the worlds, throwing all of them into chaos. The Mech was the first to point out that the others might not cooperate. The Mage advised that they reveal this information to the others before reaching a decision. The Trickster found various excuses for the others to come. After hearing news of the newly forming nexus, the 8 were grave. 6 of them agreed something must be done, but The Warlord Of Destruction and The Titan Of Might objected. The Titan and The Warlord pointed out that if they stopped fighting; they would fade beyond memory and be lost forever. The others knew this and agreed to it almost instantly. The Warlord and The Titan were outraged! How could the others expect them to meekly go into oblivion just for the sake of mere mortals who would die in time no matter what they did!? No one could convince them until The Druid Of The Woods spoke out. Perhaps instead of destroying the nexus, they could inhabit it and stabilize it. The Titan was still not convinced, as The Titan had no desire to end himself on a fools' errand. The Druid explained that using all of the 8s’ power they could instill their being into a mortal. The Titan wanted to know one thing: what’s the catch? The Druid sorrowfully concluded that only an echo would remain, else the world would be thrown into oblivion, with the rest of the worlds to follow. The Champion Of Valor proposed a compromise. They would each give their energy to a House which would uphold the values of each force, and each house would have a leader, chosen in the manner of that House. These leaders would be known as The Council, and would guard the interest of each force. The Champion finished by saying that since only mortals who agreed with the force would ever become Council members; there would be no usurpation of will. The Titan readily agreed and each began to form a house. The Trickster made it so only the most cunning would make their way to the top, and The Tricksters’ presence would be felt only in the powers’ of the House of Trickery. The Mage decided to make it so only those who showed wisdom would excel, while The Mage would be felt only in the spells’ of the House of Magic. The Warlord decided that constant violence would strengthen the House members, while he would become the violence running through the House of War. The Champion made honor and courage the chief virtues of the House, while The Champion would embody the courage in each member of the House of Valor. The Mech would make innovation the wealth and coin of the House, while The Mech would embody all of the technology of the House of Science. The Druid made the House follow compassion, and would be present in the rare companions and abilities of the House of Nature. The ShadowWalker made the House cloaked in secrecy, knowing that dissent would come again; The ShadowWalkers’ sentry would be felt in the embrace of the House of Shadows. The Titan of Might vowed to rule all the Houses alone making the mantra ‘Might makes right’, The Titan would live on in a mortal form until vanquished by one of those trained in the ways of The House of Might. Thus The Eighth Realm was formed, and thus it continues. Still The ShadowWalker and The Titans’ pupils both wait for a moment of weakness and discord, the first to warn, and the latter to destroy……

The year in The EighthRealm is 80,000 AH (80,000 years after the formation of the houses).
You may choose which month your RP's take place in:
Science
War
Might
Valor
Nature
Magic
Trickery
Shadows
Each month has exactly 40 days, and each day lasts 32 hours.
There are no seasons in The EighthRealm, each region has a steady climate.
